ORBITRAP Exploris 480 (Thermo)

In late 2021, the lab has acquired the Orbitrap Exploris 480 with FAIMS and BioPharma module. The instrument is used mostly for proteomics, including single cells, as well as analysis of intact proteins.

ORBITRAP FUSION LUMOS (Thermo)

The Orbitrap Fusion Lumos is our workhorse. This is the instrument we use for all kinds of high end proteomics. The lab is also equipped with a Thermo ion trap, and has access to an Orbitrap Velos and an Agilent Triple Quadrupole

ADVION TRIVERSA NANOMATE

One of our goals is to eliminate analyte separation when not necessary. Direct infusion mass spectrometry is the future for high throughput -omics. We show here the sample injection using the TriVersa NanoMate, which utilizes clean tips at every pickup to eliminate carryover.

OT-2 OPENTRONS

Our sample preparation is frequently performed by the liquid handler from Opentrons, to ensure reproducible analyses. We have optimized our sample preparation to pick up multiple reagents using the same tips, and then returning the tips to the original rack for potential wash/reuse. This is creating a significant reduction of plastic consumables.

MIDDLE-DOWN VIA POLYCAT CHROMATOGRAPHY

The middle-down technology we optimize is to analyze intact histone tails. This allows for the quantification of co-existing histone modifications, which serves to the identification of cross-talk between histone marks. We utilize lower resolution mass spectrometry to optimize new chromatographic separations.

TURBO DECCS

We utilize the technology developed by Medivac (link) to collect Exhaled Breath Condensate (EBC). EBC is a non-invasive technique to sample individuals and perform diagnostics.

Server

Our proteomics lab is equipped with supercomputers for the rapid processing and analysis of data.
